The New Gold Standard: YJ MGC Square-1 V2 (Magnetic + UV Coated)

The YJ MGC Square-1 V2 has arrived, and it isn’t just a sequel—it is a complete reimagining of the puzzle that dominated the competitive scene for years. For any speedcuber who has grappled with the finicky nature of Square-1 hardware, the V2 represents a massive leap forward in stability, tactile feedback, and aesthetics. This is a premium flagship designed to break personal bests right out of the box.

Innovative Magnetic Architecture

The most significant upgrade in the MGC V2 is the introduction of edge-corner positioning magnets. Traditional Square-1s often struggle with layer alignment, leading to frustrating catches during high-speed slice moves. By adding specific magnets between the edges and corners of the top and bottom layers, YJ has created a “locked-in” feel that ensures the puzzle is always perfectly aligned for the next move. This optimized layout provides a consistent, snappy turning experience that gives you total control over the puzzle’s chaotic shape-shifting.

Premium UV Coated Finish

For the first time in the MGC Square-1 line, this model features a high-end UV Coated finish. This isn’t just about the stunning, mirror-like gloss that makes the puzzle pop on your shelf; it’s a functional upgrade. The UV coating provides:

• Enhanced Grip: The surface is naturally more “tackier” than traditional frosted or matte plastic, ensuring the puzzle doesn’t slip during frantic fingerticks.

• Scratch Resistance: The hardened outer layer protects the vibrant plastic from the micro-scratches that usually accumulate over thousands of solves.

• Vibrant Color Recognition: The glossy finish makes the colors appear deeper and more distinct, aiding in faster piece recognition.

Featherlight Engineering

Despite the addition of more complex magnetic systems, YJ has managed to keep the puzzle incredibly agile. By utilizing a hollowed-out piece structure, they have stripped away unnecessary internal mass. The result is a total weight of just 98g. This perfect balance prevents hand fatigue during long practice sessions while maintaining the structural integrity and durability that the MGC line is famous for.

Customization at Your Fingertips

YJ understands that Square-1 solvers have strong preferences regarding color schemes. The Stickerless / Black Side option is a nod to the traditionalists, coming with black caps pre-installed to replace the standard yellow side. This high-contrast look is preferred by many top-tier solvers for its clarity and classic professional aesthetic.
